SLC based photographer and mother of two, Ali Middleton, talked to us about building a foundation for imagination for her children through books. Read below for some of her thoughts and recommendations!
"I am such a firm believer in the power of reading to our children. Deeper than all the school related reasons, I believe it does so much to enrich childhood. It builds a foundation for imagination, gives exposure to other cultures, and is so. much. fun. Books spark silly conversations, and meaningful ones too. We snuggle, we laugh, we discover new things, all together. Sometimes we even have read-a-thons where we set aside about an hour to get through as many books as we possibly can-- with a tiny goodie after each one because, anything to encourage a love of books ;) And since choosing a favorite book is kind of torture, here are some we are currently loving:"
The Seven Silly Eaters - Mary Ann Hoberman
Home - Carson Ellis
The Book With No Pictures - BJ Novak
Yum Yum! What Fun! - Mara Bergman
What Can a Crane Pick Up? - Rebecca Dotlich
